Statelessness Index reveals poland can do more to identify and protect stateless people

In order to highlight the key findings of the Poland country profile on the Statelessness Index - an online tool which allows instant comparison of how different countries protect people without a nationality – the European Network on Statelessness has worked with its partner Halina Nieć Legal Aid Center to develop a Poland country briefing.

Moldova shows good practice on statelessness determination with improvement needed in other areas

Previously, there was no tool available to facilitate comparison between how different European countries protect stateless people and work to prevent and reduce statelessness. Since 2017, the European Network on Statelessness has worked with its members to address this gap by partnering on our Statelessness Index. ENS member and Moldova-based non-governmental organisation Law Centre of Advocates (LCA) partnered with ENS to develop a Moldova country profile for the Index.

Germany delivers some positive practices on statelessness but areas for reform still remain

The European Network on Statelessness and Forum réfugiés-Cosi have collaborated to research comparative information on statelessness in France and compiled this into a country profile on the Statelessness Index, an online tool which assesses how countries in Europe both protect stateless people and prevent and reduce statelessness.

New Serbia briefing shows gaps in policy and practice on birth registration and childhood statelessness

Praxis is a non-governmental organisation based in Belgrade, Serbia dedicated to the protection and promotion of human rights, with a focus on the issues most relevant to refugees, IDPs, and members of vulnerable minority groups. Statelessness is one of these key issues, which Praxis has been working to address through advocacy, provision of free legal aid to those at risk of statelessness, publishing human rights reports, and providing training and awareness raising.

Ukraine country briefing highlights ways to improve statelessness law, policy and practice

The Statelessness Index is an online comparative tool that assesses European countries’ law, policy and practice on the protection of stateless people and the prevention and reduction of statelessness against international norms and good practice. The European Network on Statelessness has partnered with one of its members, Desyate Kvitnya (The Tenth of April) to research and compile comparative information on statelessness in Ukraine.
